World of Warcraft patch 9.2 is called Eternity’s End

World of Warcraft's patch 9.2, Eternity's End, has been revealed, and it will be "the final chapter of one book of the Warcraft saga," says lead narrative designer Steve Danuser in a new developer preview.

World of Warcraft patch 9.2, Eternity’s End, will see players pursue the fully-powered-up Jailer into Zereth Mortis, a new area in the Shadowlands. This new zone is where the First Ones built many of the afterlife mechanisms and creatures that players have encountered since Shadowlands’ launch. And it’s where they’ll make a final stand against the Jailer himself.

Zereth Mortis is “a realm unlike any we’ve seen before,” according to Blizzard. Its main inhabitants, the Enlightened, are a race similar to the Brokers of the Shadowlands but differ in the sense that they “treat their dwelling as a sacred place, and hope to answer to a higher calling—the pursuit of knowledge,” according to today’s developer update. Players will have the chance to interact with this new race, using them as the patch’s prime faction for story and character development.

Eternity’s End will also bring with it Shadowlands’ final raid: Sepulcher of the First Ones. Players will fight through the 11-boss raid to not only defeat the Jailer, but also to battle king Anduin in an attempt to free him from his otherworldly possession. Blizzard specifically says that players will “put a definitive end to the Jailer’s plan.”

There's no word yet on when patch 9.2 will be arriving, or even when it will be added to the game's public test realm, but Blizzard says more details will be coming as those dates draw closer.
